InNae Academy of Martial ARts

Why InNae?

More Than a Name. A Way of Life.

More Than A Name

People often ask what InNae means.

In Korean, InNae (인내) means perseverance.

For us, perseverance is much more than refusing to quit.

It is the quiet determination to become a little better each day.

It is choosing integrity when no one is watching.

It is showing courtesy even when it's difficult.

It is practicing self-control when emotions are high.

It is meeting life's challenges with an indomitable spirit.

Perseverance isn't just one of our Five Tenets.

It is the thread that connects them all.

Why We Teach

We teach martial arts, but we measure success by who our students become.

Through consistent training, students develop focus, discipline, confidence, and perseverance—skills that carry into school, work, and everyday life.

More importantly, training at InNae Academy helps shape character. Students learn to apply the Five Tenets not just in class, but in how they treat others, handle challenges, and carry themselves in the world.

Our goal is simple:
to help each student become the best version of themselves.

Living the Five Tenets

At the end of every class, our students recite the Five Tenets:

  • Courtesy

  • Integrity

  • Perseverance

  • Self-Control

  • Indomitable Spirit

But saying the words is only the beginning.

The true goal is to live them—in school, at home, at work, and in our community.

A student who demonstrates these qualities is succeeding even before earning their next belt.

Every class concludes by reciting the Five Tenets—not as words to memorize, but as principles to practice every day at home, at school, at work, and in our community.

A Black Belt Means More

A Black Belt is not simply recognition of technical ability.

It represents years of consistent effort, personal growth, and a commitment to living the values that define our academy.

Technical skill matters.

Character matters just as much.

That belief guides every promotion at InNae Academy.

At InNae Academy, a Black Belt represents far more than technical proficiency. It reflects years of perseverance, personal growth, and a demonstrated commitment to living the Five Tenets.

Our Community

Every student begins with a unique story.

Some arrive seeking confidence.

Some want fitness.

Some are looking for belonging.

Some simply need a place where they are encouraged to keep going.

Whatever brings someone through our doors, our hope is the same:

That they leave stronger in body, stronger in character, and better prepared to positively impact their families, workplaces, schools, and communities.

That is the purpose of InNae Academy.

"Martial arts is the path. Character is the destination." (don't use)

"The greatest achievement in martial arts is not earning a Black Belt—it is becoming a person of character."

More than a name

People often ask what "InNae" means.

The Korean word InNae (인내) is commonly translated as perseverance.

For us, perseverance is more than a word. It is a way of living.

It is choosing integrity when no one is watching.

It is showing courtesy even when emotions run high.

It is practicing self-control when giving in would be easier.

It is finding the courage to continue through life's challenges with an indomitable spirit.

Every class, our students recite the Five Tenets. More importantly, they strive to live them.

Because while martial arts develops stronger bodies and sharper skills, its greatest purpose is to develop stronger character.

That is why rank at InNae Academy represents more than technical ability. Advancement reflects growth in both skill and character, because we believe one is incomplete without the other.

Whether a student is three years old or beginning martial arts as an adult, our goal is the same:

To help each person become the best version of themselves—and to use that growth to make a positive difference in their family, workplace, school, and community.
